Japan Unveiled A Journey Through Time and Art ~ From Traditional Crafts to Contemporary Expressions with Kendall Brown, Ph.D.
SBMA's highly-anticipated Japan land tour will be led by Asian Art expert Dr. Kendall Brown and a local national guide. It will be based in Kyoto (4 nights), Takamatsu (1 night), Naoshima Island, affectionately known as "The Art Island" (2 nights), and Tokyo (3 nights.) Highlights will include the “art islands” including Naoshima; fantastic museums like the Miho Museum, Hokusai Museum, and the Japan Folk Crafts Museum; meetings with skilled textile, ceramic, and other artisans; and 21_21 Design Sight, a collaboration between architect Tadao Ando and designer Issey Miyake.
