The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, a leading West Coast art museum, presents internationally-recognized collections and exhibitions and a broad array of cultural and educational activities.
Join us in this position supporting our Facilities Department with general administrative, clerical, and events assistance including office tasks of telephone inquiries, correspondence, processing invoices, inventory ordering and tracking, managing vendor relationships, maintaining files, calendars, and checklists, and serving as liaison with other departments and staff on daily operational matters and Board committees as needed.
Requires excellent organizational abilities, experienced office work, general knowledge of facilities operations or museum setting preferred, and effective verbal and written communication and collaboration, with strong ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks and set deadlines utilizing strong organizational skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and office management software preferable. Excellent proofreading skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, proficient computer literacy and systems management. The ability to anticipate tasks, take initiative and set priorities effectively is essential, and demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness in addressing challenges and providing solutions using effective clear and concise written and verbal communication. May be required to assist with installation and gallery preparation, i.e., light building, painting, run errands, navigate roofs, mechanical rooms, and close quarters.
- Schedule: Full-time at 40 hours per week
- Ability to adjust schedule to flex hours to support after-hours events or respond to urgent facility needs.
- Compensation: $23.10/hour
