A lecture by Dr. Gerald J. Larson, Rabindranath Tagore, Professor Emeritus of Indian Cultures & Civilization, Indiana University, Bloomington, and Professor Emeritus, Religious Studies, UC Santa Barbara

The theory and practice of Yoga is at the heart of the simplest ritual actions as well as the most advanced conceptual frameworks in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain religion. This illustrated slide lecture focuses on the manner in which Yogins make use of posture, breathing, mind-body interaction together with notions of karma and rebirth in order to attain altered states of awareness in their ritual practice and spiritual self-understanding.
