In the Footsteps of Van Gogh with SBMA Chief Curator Eik Kahng
The Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s special exhibition Through Vincent’s Eyes: Van Gogh and His Sources, curated by Chief Curator Eik Kahng, promises to leave many visitors wanting to see and experience even more of the artist’s work and life. What better way to do this than by following his artistic journey throughout Europe with the curator of the SBMA exhibition, SBMA Chief Curator Dr. Eik Kahng? During this exclusive art tour, follow Van Gogh’s footsteps from Amsterdam, through Belgium, to Paris, and finally to the south of France and visit the most important places where the artist lived, worked, and found his inspiration. Enjoy exclusive behind-the scenes tours in the splendid museums and institutions dedicated to his work and meet renowned experts in the field. See where some of his most famous paintings are displayed today and observe his profound legacy in contemporary artists who were inspired by their beloved Vincent. The tour is scheduled to coincide with the most pleasant weather; while climate conditions are always unpredictable, May is typically sunny, with the occasional light shower, and daytime temperatures averaging in the mid-sixties in Amsterdam, high-sixties in Antwerp, high-sixties to low-seventies in Paris, and low to mid-seventies in Arles. The tour is custom-designed for SBMA in collaboration with Caroline Sodenkamp, a well-connected Dutch art tour organizer, and is exclusive to SBMA Members.
As an SBMA-customized, SBMA-exclusive special tour, SBMA Members at the $500 level and above and Curatorial Support Group members received advanced notice and the tour filled.
