The Magic of the Yukon Summer: Art, Culture, & Culinary Treasures, featuring the Moosehide Festival
Discover a part of Canada that is not often visited by Americans. For years, Yukon has been a destination for a wild adventure among beautiful terrain. But the land does not live alone. Yukon is home to its original inhabitants since Kwäday Kwädan’s “long ago people” times. Home to 14 first nations and a growing population of settlers from far and wide, Yukon is intrinsically rich with a vibrant arts, culture, and international culinary scene. Along with Lynn Feasey, a curator and arts consultant, the program invites you into the lives and studios of artists, storytellers, and culture bearers while experiencing the magic of a Yukon summer. The tour will be based in two locations: Whitehorse and Dawson City, famously known as the “Paris of the North” during the great gold rush in the last years of the 19th century. Today’s treasures are even more rich in culture, as demonstrated through the remarkable visits this tour will offer and The Moosehide Festival, which features traditional performing arts and other traditions. This is a really special offering of seven unforgettable days learning about Yukon’s art, culture, and people among its extraordinary landscapes at the perfect time of year.
