Washington, D.C.: Art Treasures in the Nation's Capital
This tour was designed for the SBMA traveler, with a focus on the outstanding art of our nation’s capital. Five nights are spent at the five-star Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C., located on the edge of the city’s thriving new Wharf district, and days are spent uncovering D.C.’s art treasures, going beyond the monuments and the halls of power to discover a vibrant city of world‐class museums, historic estates, studios, and private collections. On-site experts will lead a group of exclusively SBMA Members through museums, galleries, a historic estate, diplomatic rooms, a private home, a private club, and an artist’s studio on this customized, luxury tour at a top hotel and featuring fabulous meals.
Included are visits to the stunning Glenstone museum, in Potomac, Maryland; the National Gallery of Art with a special tour customized for our group; the Smithsonian American Art Museum; the Freer Gallery of Art; the Phillips Collection; the Kreeger Museum; Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens (the former residence of Marjorie Merriweather Post of the Post cereal empire); the home of a local art collector; an artist’s studio; and the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Reception Rooms. Extra nights can be reserved through SBMA for those who wish to stay longer and explore personal interests.
