Volunteer Opportunities

As one of the finest museums on the West coast, the SBMA is celebrated for the superb quality of its permanent collection which includes the art of Asia, Europe, and the Americas spanning 5,000 years of human history. We are proud of our nationally recognized exhibitions and our outstanding educational and outreach programs which extend throughout Santa Barbara County. In the past decade, the museum has presented a very ambitious international program of exhibitions, scholarly conferences, and new educational initiatives. SBMA is able to provide these exceptional museum experiences through the expert contributions, creative efforts, and caring commitment of our staff and extended SBMA Museum family.

We offer a competitive and rich benefits package which includes three weeks of vacation and 13 paid holidays, both of which are additionally prorated for employees working 20 to 29 hours, and eight days (64 hours) of paid sick leave for full-time employees or 5 days (40 hours) for all other employees. We offer a compliant, platinum level HMO or PPO medical plan, free dental and life insurance, voluntary vision, accident or pet care coverage, two pretax savings options, and 403b retirement plan eligibility with 100% matching of up to 5% of your earnings after a years’ service. Join in and volunteer with the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, a leading West Coast art museum, presenting internationally-recognized collections and exhibitions and a broad array of cultural and educational activities bringing art into the lives of the community.
