This Mekong journey features a carefully curated itinerary combining cultural immersion and expert insights. Guests will enjoy a two-night stay at the luxurious Park Hyatt Saigon, a seven-night cruise aboard the intimate 14-suite Mekong Princess, and three nights at the iconic Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap. Led by esteemed art historian Nigel McGilchrist, known for his expertise in art and archaeology, the journey delves into the rich history and culture of Vietnam and Cambodia. The many highlights include magnificent Buddhist and Hindu temples, including Angkor Wat, the stunning Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh and Zuhang Pagoda, traditional floating markets and a night market, and immersive experiences. Guests will also experience local artistry, a Vietnamese cooking demonstration, and traditional dance performances. The itinerary also includes visits to the War Remnants Museum and Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the Genocide Museum and Killing Fields in Phnom Penh—sites that bear witness to some of the darkest chapters in history. While these experiences are sobering and challenging, they provide important opportunities for reflection and understanding of the resilience and stories of those affected.
With only 14 suites, the Mekong Princess offers a personal feel. The riverboat blends French Colonial elegance with modern comforts, designed to provide an unparalleled cruising experience along the Mekong River. The ultra-shallow draft allows access to remote corners of the river, revealing everyday life along the Mekong.
